The cold outside
suggests a nice fire
in out tiled stove
iven, Isabella's entry burning those matches yesterday inspired me to stay at home today. Well, that's only half of the truth as there's plenty I have to care for, but shooting fire is always a nice idea.
Today I almost went into the tiled stove to get a nice shot of the fire. I had to switch to the 50 mm lens to prevent injuries however, so I had to change the theme of the contest to "shooting with prime lenses only". To give the wood a tad of light I used a dimmed flash and a long shutter time to let the flames evolve. Hope it looks as warm as it got -- me sipping tea in front of the stove, with my iBook on my knees. Have a great week everybody.

I love the smaller pic at the top of the page as a complement to the main shot. Very nicely captured flames you have here.
Beautiful shot. I really like the texture of the charring.

Fantastic warth and light in this one. The composition with the one stick dissolving to nothing in the foreground is very effective. Very nicely done!
Dramatic and impressive images like yours cause the amateurs who need to learn a lot things. It is simply wonderful to look at and feel the warmth of colors. I don´t know about you, but I cn hear the sound of the fire!
The fire looks so near that I feel like I'm about to be roasted. Lovely capture of the flames, they look so golden and silky. They contrast nicely with the rough texture of the logs.
I can almost hear the fire crackling. Nice work.
After the freezing cold of Mr Applehead this shot makes me feel warm & coomfy again. Thank you!
What a lovely homely shot. Very nicely taken and very effective.
Opps, it's Isabella :-)
It looks as though you're right on top of it, but I love the angle.
Phew! Makes me feel hot, amid full summer here :-)
